Christmas Eggnog
This is my Mom’s famous eggnog. On Christmas Eve all the members of our family and several friends gather at my Mom’s house for this egg nog. There has been up to 40 people in the house at once just to get a sip of this stuff. Remember to watch how much liqueur you put in it.
Ingredients
12 eggs separated
1 cup sugar
1 ½ cups Bourbon
½ cup brandy
6 cups milk
1 tsp. nutmeg
Directions
Day before Serving: In a large bowl beat egg yolks with mixer at high speed gradually sprinkle in sugar. Beat until mixture is thick and light colored, about 15 minutes. Frequently scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Beat in bourbon and brandy drop by drop to prevent curdling yolks. Cover and chill.
About 20 minutes before serving: In a large bowl with mixer at high speed beat egg whites until soft peak form. In large chilled punch bowl stir yolk mixture, with milk and nutmeg fold whites into mixture. To serve ladle into glasses.
