How to find comfy shoes to go with your holiday cocktail dress

Style doesn't have to equal aching feet

Okay, you've found the perfect dress for that fancy dance at the Ritz. So how do you find the right shoes to go with it—that won't leave you with aching feet and scars after an hour of dancing? Michael Pilling, PR Coordinator for Aldo, says that "setting off your dress with a strappy sky-high stiletto may sound good in theory, but you'll regret it on the dance floor.

Look for a shoe with a comfortable arch and a stable mid-height heel." Whether it's a pair of DKNY T-straps or ballerinas, comfort is key, here. Try on as many as you can before you buy—and walk around the store in them for a minute or two because that's the only way to know whether or not the shoe really fits. It's a good idea to go shoe shopping later in the day, because feet tend to swell in the afternoon. And remember, leather hugs the foot and breathes like skin; most synthetics aren't quite so kind.
